Vintage ceramic statue finished in a yellow glaze depicting the moment from Antonio Canova’s “Ercole e Lica,” in which Hercules hurls Lica into the sea after being driven mad by the poisoned tunic of Nessus. The composition is arranged around a central pillar, with the slain lion at Hercules’s feet symbolizing his earlier Nemean labor. The base bears a debossed title “Ercole e Lica,” and the reverse of the pillar carries an unidentified triangular maker’s mark. The glaze exhibits overall craquelure and several jagged areas of loss exposing the white ceramic body beneath, with general surface wear and age-related discoloration consistent with handling and material.
