Once you've completed your registration, you can log in and place absentee bids on the current week's Auction Hub. You can also log in during a live event to place bids in the livestream chat.
If you'd like additional information or photos of an item before bidding, please contact us—we're happy to help.
Absentee Bidding
Absentee bids, also known as pre-bids or left bids, allow you to place bids through the Auction Hub before the live auction begins. You can submit absentee bids at any time before the live event starts.
When placing an absentee bid, you'll enter your maximum bid amount (the most you're willing to pay, before shipping) and select one of three bid strategies. Your choice of strategy determines how the current bid is set if you are the high bidder.
🐢 Slow & Steady — Start Low and Let Others Chase You
This strategy is designed for patient bidders who want to keep the current bid as low as possible while still being in the running.
- If your max bid is $25 or less, the current bid will be set to your full bid amount.
- If your max bid is over $25, the current bid will be set to $25.
- If there are competing bids, the current bid will be set to the next highest bid + $10.
This gives you the best chance to win the item for less than your max if no one else bids higher.
⚡ Power Bid — Show Strength and Deter Competition
This strategy sets a stronger opening bid to signal your commitment and discourage other bidders.
- The current bid will be set to half your max bid, or the next competing bid + $10, whichever is greater.
Power Bid is a great middle ground between starting low and going all in.
♥️ All In — Put Your Full Bid on the Table
This strategy immediately sets the current bid to your full maximum bid amount. Use this when you want to make a strong statement and let everyone know you're serious about winning the item.
Managing Your Absentee Bids
You have full control over your absentee bids before the live auction starts:
- You can increase your max bid or upgrade your strategy at any time before the live event begins.
- If you're already the high bidder and place a new max bid with "Slow & Steady," your current bid will stay unchanged if it's already above $25.
- "Power Bid" and "All In" options are automatically grayed out if they wouldn't change the current bid (for example, if your current bid already meets those thresholds).
- The button text will change to "Update Strategy" instead of "Confirm Bid" when you're only upgrading your strategy.
Once the live auction begins, your absentee bid will be executed automatically up to your maximum bid if there are competing live bids.
Absentee bids below $1 are not accepted, but there are no reserves unless stated otherwise. We reserve the right to refuse any bid and pass any item.
All successful bidders will be automatically invoiced via the email on file if they win any lot and are expected to pay within 24 hours of receiving the invoice.
Live Bidding
Live bidding takes place in the chat feed of our live video stream. To place a bid, simply enter your bid amount into the chat, and the auctioneer will verbally acknowledge your bid. We reserve the right to refuse any bid and pass any item.
How Live Auctions Work with Absentee Bids
During the live auction, lots will open at the current high absentee bid. If there are competing live bids, the auctioneer will bid on behalf of absentee bidders automatically, up to their maximum bid amount.
In general, the max absentee bid will not be revealed to other bidders. However, we may let live bidders know when their bid approaches or matches a maximum absentee bid. If a live bidder matches the maximum absentee bid, the absentee bidder's bid will be recognized as the high bid, and live bidders will need to advance the bid to take the lead.
For items with no active absentee bids, the auctioneer will offer the item at a starting bid determined at his or her discretion.
Bid Increments and Pacing
During live bidding, our suggested bid increments are as follows:
- Under $25 — $2 or more
- $25 to $100 — $5 or more
- Over $100 — $10 or more
Higher increments may be suggested, and lower increments may be accepted. Sticking to these increments helps keep the auction moving at a fun and speedy pace.
Power bidding (bidding more than the suggested increment) is highly encouraged if you really want an item. It not only helps intimidate competing bidders but also keeps the energy up and gets us through the many items we have to offer.
Special Round Types
Choice rounds offer multiple items "on choice" at the same time. Each item will be shown on screen and described individually before bidding begins. In these rounds, you're bidding on the right to choose as many items as you want to purchase at your high bid price. Don't reveal which item you intend to choose while bidding is in progress. When bidding ends, the high bidder gets first choice of as many items as they want at their high bid price. Runners-up will have successive choice of the remaining items, each at their high bid price. You may request to be returned to at a lower bid amount after other bidders have made their choices, though we typically only do this if requested.
BIN (Buy-It-Now) rounds occur when an item is offered at a set price with no bidding. The first person to claim the item wins it at that price. While we don't require a specific format, typing "BIN," "claim," or "mine" works well.
Reserve items: Some items may be sold with a reserve, which is the minimum dollar amount bidding must reach for the item to sell. If bidding doesn't reach the reserve, the item may be passed or offered at a buy-it-now price.
How Bidding Closes
When active live bidding stops or slows, the auctioneer will do a countdown before announcing an item is sold. If no further bids come in, the auctioneer will enter a "sold" comment into the chat and verbally announce "sold." Like in any auction, bids that come in after the auctioneer has said "sold" will not be accepted. The "sold" chat comment acts as the "fall of the hammer" and determines when the sale is final. If a bid comes in before the "sold" comment, bidding continues as normal; if it comes in after, it won't be counted. We reserve the right to re-open bidding due to technical issues.
If no acceptable bids come in for an item after a reasonable amount of time, the item may be passed. The auctioneer will enter a "pass" comment into the chat. Bids that come in after a pass comment has been entered may be rejected at the auctioneer's discretion.
