Vintage hand painted folk art shoe shine box with humorous painted lettering. One side reads: “Shoes Shined, 10¢ Each, Sneakers 5¢.” The reverse side features stenciled text: “Corridors Stenciled / Base-a-ments Waterproofed / Holes Patches, Big or Small (One Dollar an Inch) / If You Want to Get Plastered, Call Me / Established 1776 – Tony Cavallaro, Prop.” The top is painted: “If You Can't Fix It and I Can't Fix It, — To Hell With It.” Box includes cast iron rest for placing a shoe during shining. Missing its internal drawer. Shows surface wear and paint losses consistent with age and use, enhancing its folk art character.
