Thomson with printing by Weeks, Jordan & Co. and stereotyping by T. Moore of 204 Washington Street. Copyright entered in 1837 in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of Massachusetts. Bound in brown cloth with gilt lettering on spine and cover. Binding exhibits significant wear with fraying and losses at edges, spine separation, and cover soiling. Interior pages show foxing, toning, and age-appropriate discoloration throughout. An early example of American prison reform literature addressing institutional conditions and advocating for transparency in correctional facilities.
