"Glory be to God on high; And in earth peace, goodwill towards men." I'm thrilled to bring you this stunning Catholic prayer box, truly one of the finest I've seen. You'll find St. Rita of Cascia beautifully depicted on the inside in chalkware, complete with her bleeding forehead stigmata and flanked by faux flowers on both sides. The wood is in remarkable condition with great patina, and the gesso border has some damage on the bottom. The reverse painted glass panel features cherubs and the inscription "Gloria in Excelsis Deo," a famous hymn that I quoted at the beginning of this post. This piece measures 15" wide, 24" tall, and 4" deep.
