Antique copy of "Selected Poems of Robert Burns" with biographical sketch and notes by Nathan Haskell Dole. Published by Thomas Y. Crowell & Company, New York (46 East 14th Street) and Boston (100 Purchase Street). The book is undated. The decorative frontispiece, printed in sepia, depicts a woman in flowing dress within an ornate oval frame surrounded by cherubs and scrollwork, with "Robert Burns's Poems" and "T.Y. Crowell & Co. New York" lettered within the design. Interior pages include illustrations accompanying the poems.

The binding is half leather with a brown leather spine featuring gilt-tooled raised bands. The boards are covered in marbled paper in tones of orange, burgundy, and cream. Marbled endpapers in matching colors are present. A partially removed bookplate or label is visible on the front pastedown.

The leather spine shows rubbing and wear at the head, tail, and joints. The leather corners are worn through. The marbled boards show light scuffing. Interior pages are toned with foxing concentrated near the front and rear of the text block.
