Pre-Auction Notes: Pair of antique letters concerning the 1909 execution of Henry Davis for assault. The first is a typed letter dated February 26, 1909, from John D. McNee, Clerk of the City Court of Talladega, Alabama, addressed to Governor B. B. Comer, reporting on the scheduled execution by hanging. This letter was forwarded with a typewritten addendum signed by Governor Comer to Cornelius Blake at Columbia Teachers College, New York City, stating that he would not interfere in the case. Both items show age toning and handling wear.
