Pre-Auction Notes: The books in this lot are products of their time, and offer opposing perspectives on the question of slavery, one abolitionist, and the other abhorrent racist. These books have not been thoroughly reviewed for their content, but it should be assumed that much of the language and views are outdated and offensive by modern standards. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this lot, less transaction fees, will be donated to The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. In their own words, "the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem, one of The New York Public Library’s renowned research libraries, is a world-leading cultural institution devoted to the research, preservation, and exhibition of materials focused on African American, African Diaspora, and African experiences."
