This ashtray or pipe rest features the likeness of a pelican bird with a large gaping beak. The opening of the beak acts as the ashtray where the user would dispense their ashes or store their pipe. It could also be used as a coin tray or ring tray. A mark on the side of the piece says Houston, Texas and features a bull's head. I believe it is made of a copper-colored pot metal or other cheap metal alloy. It is in good condition with no chips or breaks, and has a nice patina to the metal.
