Grouping of twenty-five early to mid-19th century English engravings depicting idealized and historical female figures, produced by various artists, engravers, and publishers. Subjects include titled and literary characters such as “Genevieve,” “Lady Caroline Lamb,” “Eleanor,” “The Fair Patrician,” and “Alice Lee,” among others. These finely executed portrait and genre engravings feature delicate linework, subtle tonal shading, and in some examples, hand coloring. Typical of the romantic and sentimental style popular in England during the early Victorian period. Light toning, foxing, and edge wear consistent with age and handling.
