This is a wanted poster with photograph offering $50 reward for the arrest of T.J. Dougherty, alias J.T. Dougherty, alias Jack Dougherty, alias L.B. Dougherty. Dated Kansas City, Missouri, July 3, 1918, signed by J.L. Ghent, Acting Chief of Police. On the night of June 7th, 1918, T.J. Dougherty stole the following from Mrs. Alta Z. Stapleton, at the Shelton Apartments in Excelsior Springs, Missouri: one 3½ karat commercial white diamond, set in Tiffany mounting, value $1000.00; one 1 karat diamond, set in Tiffany mounting, value $175.00; one circle ring, set with 4 diamonds, 2½ karat stones in the center, and 2⅜ karat stones set on either end, value $200.00; one oblong opal cluster, set with several small diamonds around opal, value $250.00; one Marquis ring, set with several chip diamonds, value $50. Physical description: brown eyes, dark brown hair, fair complexion, medium build, weight 153 pounds, age 40 years, long ears, English height 5' 6¼", occupation actor. Was 28 years old in 1906. Bertillon measurements: height 168.2, stretch 170.0, trunk 91.6, H. Length 19.5, H. Width 15.5, R. Ear 7.0, L. Foot 26.2, L.M. Finger 11.1, L.L. Finger 8.0, L. Cubic 45.0. Text states Dougherty is a confidence man and will be found in the company of that class of criminals. He has a large cut on right cheek. Reward stands good until December 31, 1918. If arrested, notify me by wire. Poster shows age toning, creasing, edge wear, and handling marks consistent with age and use.
