Antique shadow box featuring reverse painted glass with a white border and black and gilt oval surround, the clear center revealing a wood scroll cut cross decorated with delicate shell and seaweed floral arrangements. Each shell “flower” is detailed with small dried white blossoms at its center, forming naturalistic miniature bouquets—one mounted at the center of the cross and others arranged at its base. Some of the white paint has flaked from the glass. Framed in thin black metal with applied gold pressed metal corners featuring a leaf and honeycomb design. Retains original green paper label on back printed “Patented June 22, 1864.” General surface wear and paint loss consistent with age and handling.
