Oval wooden plaque featuring pyrography artwork of the classic Rock of Ages religious image showing a robed figure clinging to a cross emerging from turbulent waters, surrounded by decorative oval border with geometric pattern. Title "Rock of Ages" burned into bottom of design. Back bears Flemish Art Company stamp from New York with number 953 and Flemish Quality Standard designation, along with handwritten inscriptions with the artists signature and "2nd Prem. Shelton Sept. 29-30 '21" Plaque retains two original award ribbons attached with string: red ribbon reading "Mason County Fair, Shelton, Wash., Second Premium, 1921, Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 1 and 2" and cream colored tag with purple ink stamp reading "Mason County Fair." Reverse of cream tag contains exhibition rules stating "The name of the exhibitor is sealed until after the judges complete their awards, when it is to be broken and the name is exposed before the judges conclude their work, the exhibits will not be considered in competition."
