Pre-Auction Notes: translation of interior text: INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE for the ASSUR COLORS

On a piece of white cardboard, press out the desired color in small amounts. Moisten a piece of white, soft canvas, which is smooth when placed around the index finger, with turpentine oil, take some color, and prepare a semi-moist color paste by rubbing on the cardboard, in the desired intensity and shade.

First, work on the larger areas of the image. The color is applied with the canvas cloth; through light rubbing in circular motions, the tone becomes absolutely even; the color layer dries very quickly and is completely transparent, allowing all the details of the image to come through unchanged. It is not necessary to worry about keeping the contours exact, as the color from the wrong spot can be easily and completely removed using the enclosed eraser. In this way, the surfaces are painted over one by one in the corresponding shades.

Smaller picture areas are colored with the included blending stumps, or fine lines can be made with the retouching brush. If you want to make the color effect more brilliant, mix a little painting medium with the color while rubbing it in. With turpentine oil and a cotton ball, you can easily and completely remove all the color again without affecting the photographic image in the slightest. The colors are lightfast.
