Antique hand-stitched needlework embroidery depicting a pastoral courting scene of a Scottish couple in traditional dress beneath a tree, with a cottage in the distance. Finely executed with silk and wool threads on linen ground, likely early 19th century. Mounted under glass in a gilt wood frame with paper backing and label from ARTEFFECTS, an art and framing gallery in Northampton, Massachusetts. Toning, staining, rips and break in surround fabric, and scattered thread loss consistent with age and material. Frame shows minor wear to edges.
