Brass hardware includes a front clasp and two rear hinges.

The back of the box bears a large floral motif with leaves and a blossom. One side panel displays a windswept woman, while the opposite side features a detailed rendering of a table lamp with a decorative shade, along with the names "Esther" and "Patterson," the initials "A.N.W.," a bird in flight, and the marking "M.I.T. '07" accompanied by a triangular symbol with crossed elements and the date "1902."

The interior lid is inscribed "E.M. Wing," "Hunter," "Abbie Wing 1902," and "Grandma A. Freeman," along with small decorative burns and the letters "K" and "N." The interior bottom contains a pencil-drawn flower and the initials "E.M.W." The box shows surface wear, scratches, and minor staining consistent with age and use.
