Pre-Auction Notes: Charming antique figural majolica pitcher depicting a stern, bearded guard or military figure with a rounded belly and ornate uniform. Richly detailed in high relief, the figure wears a plumed cap, epaulets, and a draped green sash, with both hands resting on his stomach. Vivid polychrome glazes in brown, cobalt blue, green, and ochre highlight the intricate modeling. The pitcher is finished with a twisted rope-style handle and mounted on a pewter base, a feature often seen in continental European pottery of the period.

Likely of German, Austrian, or Bohemian origin, circa 1890–1920, in the tradition of character jugs and figural beer vessels. Unmarked. Displays beautifully and would make a fine addition to a majolica, breweriana, or figural pottery collection.
