Oil on board depicting a rural genre scene of a man tending a small burn pile or field fire along a wooded path, a composition closely matching imagery widely circulated on early 20th-century postcards. The scene corresponds to examples from the “Art in the Great Outdoors” series, published by Meissner & Burch (circa 1908), suggesting this work is a painted interpretation or copy after a popular postcard image rather than a unique original composition.

The painting is executed in a soft, naturalistic palette with attention to atmosphere and landscape, consistent with turn-of-the-century decorative and commercial art. Presented in a gilt wood frame. Verso retains a gallery-style label reading “Denholm & McKay Co., Boston Store, Worcester, Massachusetts, Picture Galleries, No. 1244,” indicating retail gallery sale or framing through the well-known New England department store chain.

Condition shows scattered surface wear, light abrasions, and age-related toning consistent with an early 20th-century decorative work. Frame exhibits wear, minor losses, and patina. Offered as found.
