Uncased tintype photograph depicting a Union soldier posed in a full-length standing studio portrait. The subject wears a dark military uniform with a standing collar and a row of buttons, a forage-style cap, and a full beard. One hand rests at his side while the other is placed at his waist, suggesting a formal studio pose.

The painted backdrop is clearly visible and features military imagery including stacked cannonballs, a field cannon, tents, and a distant landscape, a common theatrical studio setting used during the Civil War period to evoke battlefield or camp scenes.

The tintype is in fair condition, with surface scratches, abrasions, oxidation, edge wear, and areas of darkening and loss, particularly along the lower edge and across the image surface. Corners show wear and minor bending consistent with age and handling. No case, mat, or identifying information present.
