1/6th plate tintype photograph depicting a Union soldier posed in a seated studio portrait. The subject wears a dark military uniform with a standing collar and a vertical row of gilt-highlighted buttons. His hands rest in his lap, and the composition is tightly framed within an ornate gilt brass mat featuring floral and scroll motifs.

The tintype is in notably poor condition, with heavy oxidation, darkened areas, spotting, surface abrasions, and loss that obscure portions of the image, particularly across the upper half and background. Despite the deterioration, the figure and uniform details remain discernible.

Housed in a full split leatherette case, both halves are present but separated. The case shows expected wear from age and handling. No identifying name, regiment, or photographer information is present.
