Antique engraved anatomical illustration depicting a human skull in side profile, attributed to James Basire. The engraving is consistent in style, subject matter, and period with skull plates published in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society in the early 19th century. The printed plate title and publication line appear at the upper margin but are partially obscured by the frame.

The engraving is housed in an antique wooden frame with gilt liner. The framing itself is modern, as received, and not original to the engraving.

Condition shows foxing, toning, and scattered staining to the paper, consistent with age. The engraving remains intact and legible. The frame shows surface wear consistent with age and handling.

Dimensions: 11-7/8" W x 13-1/2" H
