Antique 19th century two-blade bloodletting fleam, a veterinary and medical instrument historically used for phlebotomy. Constructed with a riveted horn handle housing two folding steel blades of differing widths, each terminating in a rounded cutting edge typical of fleams used on horses and livestock. The blades pivot from the handle and fold closed for storage. Steel surfaces show oxidation, pitting, and wear consistent with age and use. The horn handle exhibits surface wear, darkening, and shrinkage typical of organic material. No visible maker’s marks. Offered as an early medical and veterinary artifact.
