19th century embroidered sampler, dated “1880” at upper center, worked on a coarse linen or homespun ground. The sampler features a dense arrangement of colorful figural, animal, floral, and symbolic motifs, including birds, horses, roosters, butterflies, strawberries, floral sprays, architectural elements, and folkloric characters such as a devil figure and a fox, along with additional human and animal scenes. The composition is bordered with stitched floral and vine motifs on all sides.

The embroidery is executed in polychrome thread with varied stitch work typical of late 19th century domestic needlework. Fabric shows overall age-related wear, light staining, waviness, and minor thread losses consistent with age and handling. Edges are unfinished; the sampler is offered unframed and as found. A visually rich and highly decorative example of late 19th century folk embroidery.
