Framed 18th-century Catholic relic authentication certificate (authentica), issued in Rome on May 29, 1775 by Bishop Nicolaus Angelus Maria Landini, Florentine Augustinian and papal assistant. The handwritten text attests to a relic consisting of a particle from the cloak of Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, extracted from the ancient Church of St. Anastasia in Rome. The relic was enclosed in an oval silver reliquary depicting Christ, secured with red silk thread, and sealed with the bishop’s wax seal. Such documents served as official proof of authenticity, allowing relics to be publicly venerated in chapels and churches. A rare and significant certificate, particularly notable for its association with St. Joseph, with original ink inscription and episcopal signature.
