Copyright 1919 by Richard J. Beamish. Features introductory letter from General John J. Pershing, Commander-in-Chief of the American Expeditionary Forces, dated May 9, 1919 from France. Illustrated with official photographs including color frontispiece depicting the "Lost Battalion" in Argonne Forest and full-page portrait of General Pershing. Photographs document military mobilization, training, and combat operations in France including the Argonne offensive. Bears previous owner's inscription dated March 5, 1920 on front free endpaper. Blue cloth binding with gilt-stamped American eagle design and decorative border on front cover. Endpapers show water staining at edges, binding shows minor wear.
