This is a framed wreath made entirely of human hair that was likely made to commemorate and mourn a loved one past in the Victorian era. The wreath is incredibly detailed and highly decorative. It is housed in a wood frame and shadow box with a glass front. The wreath is in good condition. The frame is in fair condition, as the gilt gesso coating has begun to crumble and fall away. It is possibly that more bits of gesso may fall off during shipping. This is a great example of a lost art that would look outstanding in any home. The frame measures 13.5 x 15.5".
