Stereoscope 3D Viewfinder Stereo Card Viewer, Patented June 29, 1874
Stereoscope 3D Viewfinder Stereo Card Viewer, Patented June 29, 1874
Here is a great stereoscope used to view stereoscopic 3D cards that were popular at the turn of the century. Though they usually have a maker's mark, this one is marked only with a patent date of June 29, 1874. This stereoscope is in working condition and operates great, with minor signs of wear from normal use and handling. Wear includes a good sized chip out of the left side of the wood where you put your eyes, but this damage does not affect operation. The viewfinder has a fold down handle that operates smoothly, but is somewhat loose and needs to be held steady during use.
The photographed stereo card is not included with this item. However, many stereo cards are available for purchase from Memory Hole Vintage.
