Here is an incredible antique piece of church history. It is a charming and well crafted wooden box with very nice hand done dovetails and a hinged lid. There is a slot in the lid to deposit communications or ballots. The front of the brown-painted box features lovely hand done gold lettering reading, "Communications for Minister." The box likely sat in a church where parishioners could anonymously deposit thoughts, confessions, or suggestions to the priest through the slit in the lid. The box features a locking mechanism for security, though the lid portion of the lock has been removed. The box is in good condition with normal signs of wear and use.
