Here is a lovely antique ambrotype photograph of a young man in a top hat wearing a very large bowtie. This photo is housed in a half case, often called a "union case." It dates to the second half of the 1800s. This photo is 1/9th plate size, making it approximately 2 x 2.5 inches.
