Here is a beautiful antique religious icon on a wood panel. It features a mother praying over her baby in a clearing in the woods, possibly a depiction of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus. The panel features three raised shields on the lower portion, as well as beautiful decorative scrolling throughout the black border. The wood panel is detailed with a gesso like material. I am not sure if the image is an original painting or some kind of transferred print. This piece is in fair antique condition with considerable wear and chipping throughout. The image could use a thorough cleaning by a professional, as the bright original colors are peaking through beneath years of build up. This piece measures 7.5" x 10.5".
